Giving Back To The Community That Means So Much To Us
By: The Portfolio Advisors, Inc. Team
‘Tis the season for giving! The Portfolio Advisors, Inc. Team wanted to start a new tradition this year by giving back to various community organizations that mean a great deal to each of us. Our company will be making a donation to each of the following organizations selected by each of our team members. Please read below about these organizations and our personal connection to them.
Fresno Bully Rescue – Jessica Sadredin
Fresno Bully Rescue (FBR) is a volunteer-based, non-profit, no-kill rescue and shelter dedicated to rescuing bully breed dogs. They help provide a healthy and loving temporary home while looking for the shelter dog’s forever homes. I’ve always loved animals, but I got my start with FBR through my friend who has two adopted FBR bullies. I started volunteering at FBR in 2017 and continue to enjoy being involved. FBR continues to help and rescue so many dogs in our community. (Find out more about FBR at https://fresnobullyrescue.org/)
Exceptional Parents Unlimited (EPU) – Andrew James (AJ) Flores
Exceptional Parents Unlimited is an organization that was founded to help struggling parents become exceptional parents of their exceptional children. My significant other, Jillian, has worked as an early childhood interventionist at EPU for a number of years now. Through visiting the facility along with attending and contributing to both charity events and fundraising efforts, I have seen the impact that EPU and its team have made for children and their families. EPU’s mission is to guide and strengthen children and families with unique needs through supporting services that cultivate hope and resilience. EPU’s vision is that children grow up in families where their unique needs are met, and their families have confidence in their ability to meet those needs. Over the years, EPU has developed a wide range of family-centered programs and services in response to the expressed needs of the families in our community. (Find out more about EPU at https://epuchildren.org/.)
Animal Rescue of Fresno – Jordan Naffa
After finding a few stray dogs in the neighborhood, I learned about the mission of Animal Rescue of Fresno (ARF). ARF is a non-euthanize dog adoption facility and nonprofit organization that was established in 1998 by a local group of community members. The community members wanted to do something about the high number of homeless dogs that were dying because no one gave them a chance to find their forever home. ARF uses donations to keep dogs happy until they are adopted. Donations are used for commonly needed items like food, beds, and wellness equipment. I feel the generous donation for Portfolio Advisors will truly make an impact during this holiday season! (Find out more about ARF at https://arf-fresno.com/.)
Poverello House – Jesse Vega
The Poverello House is a non-profit organization that acts as a shelter to help individuals and families in need. In high school, I was part of a club that would give families in need a care package full of food so that they could enjoy Christmas worry free. This sparked an interest of helping others in need, especially during the holidays. I chose to donate to the Poverello House because I feel like this will go a long way during the holiday season. (Find out more about Poverello House at https://poverellohouse.org/.)
Central California Community Food Bank – Tina Mistry
One of my favorite memories from college was volunteering for the food bank during Halloween and ‘trick or treating’ for canned food (instead of candy). During the pandemic, I reconnected with the Central California Food Bank (CCFB) through an online fundraising event, and I was quickly reminded of the great work they do serving our community. The Central California Food Bank is the largest food bank in Central California serving Fresno, Madera, Kings, Kern and Tulare Counties. With the help of dedicated volunteers through 300+ partner feeding sites, they serve over 350,000 people each month. (Find out more about CCFB at https://ccfoodbank.org/.)
